Founded in 1639, Newport was an important port city, a center of the slave trade, a fashionable resort and the summer home of the Gilded Age rich.

Chef Kevin Des Chenes is Culinary Director of the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival, Private Chef to the Stars, author of “Beyond My Chef Coat” and a familiar face from The Today Show, Beat Bobby Flay and The Great Food Truck Race.
Matthew MacCartney
Matthew MacCartney is Wine Director of the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival. He is also Wine Director for The Ocean House Collection restaurant group in Rhode Island. His restaurant experience includes Gramercy Tavern and Daniel in New York; Les Prés d’Eugénie in France and Ristorante Cibrèo in Italy; and he was co-owner of the award-winning Fish restaurant in Jamestown, R.I.

Founded in 1993, the Newport Symposium has been an annual convening of fine and decorative arts experts and enthusiasts from across the country and the world.
