Founded in 1639, Newport was an important port city, a center of the slave trade, a fashionable resort and the summer home of the Gilded Age rich.

The Breakers Café in the Welcome Center on the mansion grounds features a daily self-serve selection of sandwiches and salads prepared locally, along with a variety of snacks, pastries and cookies and hot and cold beverages. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Available to Preservation Society members and Newport Mansions tour ticket holders.
Afternoon Tea & Dining
Enjoy a unique dining experience at the iconic Chinese Tea House, located on the grounds of Marble House above the historic Cliff Walk.
Newport Mansions has partnered with Stoneacre Restaurants to offer brunch and afternoon tea service in the Chinese Tea House featuring seasonal ingredients and artisan purveyors. The prix fixe menu includes a welcome beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), a tea tower complete with savories, sweets and tea, and an entrée of your choice. An experience not to be missed!

Schedule: Afternoon Tea & Dining at the Chinese Tea House will be available on select dates April through December. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm, with last seating at 3:30.
Please note: Last admission to the Marble House mansion and grounds is at 4 pm. If you plan to tour Marble House on the same day as your Afternoon Tea reservation, please plan accordingly.
The newly restored Carriage House at The Elms, on the mansion grounds overlooking the historic Elms gardens, is the newest dining experience for visitors and members at the Newport Mansions. Enjoy a snack or a selection from our seasonal à la carte menu of New England classics and farm-to-table fare, along with beer, wine and soft beverages. Order at the counter or enjoy full table service.
